Meet Archibald (Archie) – Your Future Foster Companion!

Archibald, affectionately known as Archie, is a sweet, lovable Shepherd/Lab mix looking for a temporary foster home while his owner, a dedicated member of the military, is deployed from March 20, 2025, to November 1, 2025. Archie is currently located in Virginia Beach, VA, but the owner is more than willing to cover transportation costs to ensure he finds a safe, loving foster home.

Archie is an ideal family dog who gets along wonderfully with people, children, cats, and other dogs. Having lived with children of all ages and cats, he is a great fit for a variety of homes. Archie is house-trained, crate-trained (though he doesn’t need to be crated), and leash-trained. While he walks well on a gentle leader (which will be provided), he can pull on a regular leash if he gets excited. Archie may be a bit standoffish and protective when meeting new people while on a leash, but he’s never aggressive. His owner prefers to avoid potential confrontations by keeping distance from others when possible.

Archie is playful and active, especially when it comes to outdoor activities. He absolutely loves going on long walks and visiting the dog park, where he enjoys running and playing with new dogs and meeting new people. He’s a social boy who thrives on interaction and gets along great with dogs of all sizes.

At home, Archie is the ultimate companion. He has a bit of separation anxiety, so he loves being near you, following you around, and curling up for snuggles on the couch. He might even try to sneak into your bed for some extra cuddle time, if allowed. Archie’s sweet, goofy personality shines through in his playful antics. He loves tossing his hard plastic hippo toy in the air, playing fetch, and zooming around the yard with his frisbee—he’ll do all of this as long as you’re there to enjoy the fun with him!

While Archie is a loving, affectionate dog, it’s important to note that he can be a bit food-aggressive around his regular meals and treats. His owner feeds him separately to avoid any issues, so it’s important that you follow the same routine while fostering him.

Archie is an incredibly sweet boy who is sure to bring joy to any home.
