Gorka C.

Meet Gorka, a sweet, fun boxer mix who needs a foster while his owner serves with the National Guard from April 28, 2024, until Dec. 23, 2024.   Gorka can be transported within a 12-hour radius of Allentown, PA.

Gorka is a 5-year-old boxer mix raised by his owner since he was 2 months old.  Gorka is house, leash, and crate trained but hasn’t needed to be crated in a while. He has no destructive tendencies – except maybe soft toys and socks.  On the leash, Gorka does well but pulls, which can be corrected with a command. Gorka is friendly to all, but when he sees other dogs, he acts big and tough and barks. As they get closer, he becomes timid; the owner states he even gets timid with smaller dogs once they are near.  

Gorka enjoys going for walks, car rides, the dog park, and playing chase with other dogs.   Gorka is happiest when he is by your side and has company. Gorka loves following you and cuddling on the sofa; he wants you to touch him to feel safe and loved.   Gorka often sleeps but enjoys getting his energy out by playing or running around. The owner stated that while he doesn’t play a lot with toys or balls, he does enjoy playing fetch with socks that have been knotted up.

Gorka has minor food aggression and will growl when eating or chewing on bones or wet food but is okay around dry food. While he has never acted aggressively, he should be placed in a home with older children who can respect his protectiveness of bones and food.  He should also be fed separately to avoid any possible conflicts.

Gorka is well trained and knows bi-lingual commands such as sit, stay, paw, etc.
