Breed/Type: Husky
Location: Glenn Burnie, Maryland
Dakota is a 3-year-old sweetheart with soulful eyes (yesâjust one eye now!) and a whole lot of love to give. This 70-pound lovebug is looking for a calm, caring foster home while her devoted owner is away for military service. Friendly, affectionate, and low-maintenance, Dakota is the kind of dog who just wants a soft bed, some gentle walks, and the occasional belly rub.

Travel Distance: up to 6 hours
Dakota is a low to medium energy girlâhappy to lounge most of the day but still up for a good walk or a car ride. She gets the zoomies every now and then, especially when you come home, but sheâs more likely to curl up at your feet than bounce off the walls.
Sheâs incredibly loving with people of all ages, including children, and will happily press against you for pets and attention. She’s lived with kids from infants to school-age and treats them all like her tiny humansâthough she prefers they donât try to sneak her food.
Dakota has a strong independent streakâsheâs not clingy, but sheâll check in to say hi, lean on you for some love, and then go lounge on her own. Sheâs a snuggler on her terms and shows affection through nuzzles, licks, and sweet tail wags.
House-trained: Yes
Crate-trained: Yes (though she prefers not to use it)
Leash-trained: Yesâwalks calmly, may pull slightly if she picks up a good scent
Commands: Knows her potty schedule, communicates when she needs to go
Destructive tendencies: Only if thereâs a napkin or tissue left outâthose are her guilty pleasure!
Noise sensitivity: Will run from the vacuum or hide during fireworks
Food behavior: Not food-aggressive, but prefers to graze. Can be possessive of food around small children
No other pets, please. She can be mistrustful of large dogs (especially since losing her eye), and her play style can be a bit much for small dogs and cats.
No small children unattended around her food. Older kids? Great!
Calm, structured home. Sheâs content to chill and will let you know what she needs.
Someone whoâll respect her boundaries. Dakota isnât looking to take over your bed or demand constant attentionâshe just wants to be near her human and feel safe.
Dakota has brought joy, laughter, and comfort to her familyâand now she needs someone to do the same for her. If youâve been waiting for a loyal companion with a gentle soul and the perfect couch companion energy, Dakota may just be your girl.
