Meet Cooper: A Sweet and Loving Companion Looking for a Foster Home!
Cooper is a 6-year-old, 33-pound Mountain Cur/Terrier mix who needs a loving foster while his owner recovers from surgery and rehab. His owner will need him to be fostered from May 19, 2024, to Aug. 22, 2025. Cooper’s owner is willing to transport him within a 16-hour radius of West Chester, PA, to help him find the perfect foster home. This is a great opportunity to care for a loving dog in need and provide him with the time, attention, and care he deserves while his owner is recovering.
Cooper has had a rough past—he was rescued from the South and has endured trauma, including being shot at some point in his life. As a result, he has some quirks, but don’t let that fool you; he’s an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. Off-leash and in a home environment, Cooper is a loving companion who enjoys snuggling, being close to his humans, and curling up for naps when it’s time to relax. He is house, crate, and semi-leash trained, making him a great addition to any home.
Cooper thrives in the comfort of his home, where he does well with people, older children, and dogs. His high prey drive means he doesn’t do well with cats or small animals. He’s also a little shy when meeting new people, preferring women but warming up to men after some time to adjust. When out and about, though, Cooper’s reactivity to people on walks can make him protective when on a leash. He’s fine with other dogs on a leash, but avoids people whenever possible. To keep everyone safe, his owner has found it necessary to muzzle him during walks due to his tendency to be startled by strangers or fast-moving people (such as bikers or runners).
Cooper is used to apartment life but also enjoys time outdoors running around in a yard or playing at the dog park. At the dog park, he’ll interact with other dogs but prefers staying close to his owner. He’s done well in other homes with dogs, proving to be friendly, loving, and adaptable.
While Cooper’s personality comes with a few unique traits, he’s an absolute joy to have around. He’s a true lap dog at heart, always wanting to curl up with his owner and be as close as possible. He sleeps in bed with his owner, often cuddling and resting with his head on the pillow. Cooper’s “zoomies” are a highlight—he loves running down hallways with a big smile on his face, spreading joy wherever he goes.
If you’re looking for a quiet, sweet, and cuddly pup to welcome into your home, Cooper is the perfect match. His lovable nature and unique quirks make him a wonderful companion, and he’ll reward you with endless snuggles and affection. Will you be the one to help him during this important time of need?
