Meet Boomer – A River-Loving, Blanket-Chewing Buddy

Boomer is a 3-year-old, 70-pound Pitbull-Husky mix with a playful heart and a love for the outdoors. He’s looking for a committed foster home while his owner is deployed from June 23, 2025, through April 30, 2026. Based in Sacramento, Boomer’s owner is willing to drive up to 8 hours to find him the perfect temporary family!

🦴 Why You’ll Love Boomer

Boomer is smart, social, and full of personality! He’s housebroken, crate trained, and knows all the basic commands—sit, stay, shake, leave it, speak—and he even waits to eat until you say “break.” He’s got a favorite blanket he loves to nibble on (don’t worry, it’s coming with him!) and while he doesn’t bark much, he may let out a little howl when he’s really missing his walk.

Boomer is also well-behaved indoors. He free roams when home alone (up to 10 hours a day!) and hasn’t had any accidents unless he’s sick. He’s not destructive but will gladly help himself to anything left on counters, so food and valuables should be stored when he’s left alone.

🐕 Active & Confident

Boomer has high energy and enjoys two daily walks—plus, he loves river time, though he’s not a fan of the deep end! He’s great on leash with a prong collar, doesn’t pull once he’s gotten his first potty break, and responds quickly to “No. Leave it.” when distracted. He’s curious but not reactive to people or bikes and adjusts quickly in new surroundings.

💬 Personality & Preferences

Boomer is good with adults and teens, though due to his energy and size, we suggest no small children. He has done well with dogs he’s met, particularly females, but has not lived with other dogs and should not be placed with cats or small dogs. He’s a more independent guy—happy to hang nearby, but not a Velcro dog. He’ll cuddle on the couch, then retreat to his bed for some quiet time.

Boomer’s legs shake slightly during walks, but he’s been cleared by his vet with no diagnosis—he’s otherwise healthy and thriving. He does great during baths (just skip the blow dryer!) and absolutely loves car rides, especially with his head out the window.

🏡 The Perfect Foster Home

Boomer is best suited for an active home where he’ll get daily walks and lots of attention. He needs a pet-free environment with adults or older teens and a foster who understands structure, routine, and the needs of a smart, high-energy pup.

If you’re within 8 hours of Sacramento, CA, Boomer would love to meet you! Give this boy a place to call home while his person serves our country.
