Meet Atlas! The 2-year-old German Shepherd who would love to be a part of your world for a short time while his owner completes training with the US Army from December 16, 2023 until September 1, 2024. Atlas is currently in Fayetteville, NC, and can be transported between there and Philadelphia, PA, or parts of Georgia, or Alabama.

Atlas will love you to the moon and back! This super loveable pup enjoys a good cuddle session if you can get him to sit still. He loves to be around people and will gladly play games with you if you bring him squeaky toys! He’s the best at tug of war and loves to be chased! Atlas already knows how to sit, stay, back up, speak, and give paw but would love to learn some new tricks – – especially if treats are involved!

Atlas is great with adults and children and is used to living in an apartment as long as he can take short walks or has a place to run. He has no experience with cats and may get along with most dogs after a few meet-and-greets.  When walking on a leash, he will pull occasionally and bark and pull when approached by other people and dogs but will settle down once you avert his attention.  Can be good with other dogs as long as he has a slow introduction. He can become overwhelmed by hyper or over-excited dogs and become fearful and defensive.  Atlas is crate-trained but does not need to be crated when you’re away. No destructive tendencies but may steal socks to play with.  Loves attention and to be pet. Goofy, silly, and lovable pup.

The ideal foster for Atlas would be someone patient, caring, and loving! A foster with experience with positive reinforcement and high-energy dogs is also a plus.  Can be with other friendly dogs after a slow introduction so he doesn’t become overwhelmed. Atlas may not be good with alpha dogs that show excessive dominance.
