PACT hosted a wonderful all-day event, Punish the Deed Not the Breed, on Sunday September 23 at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and International House. The emotional documentary, Beyond the Myth, was shown as well as multiple educational discussions led by leading pit bull advocates. Local rescue organizations including: ACCT: Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia, All They Need is Love, Delaware County SPCA, Green Street Animal Rescue, Pennsylvania SPCA, Pit Bull Soldiers, The Spayed Club, and Wet Nose Rescue attended the event and provided valuable resources and knowledge. In addition, Rescue Chocolate, who generously donates 100% of their net profits to animal welfare organizations sold favorites such as “Peanut Butter Pit Bull” chocolate bars. Melissa McDaniel sold and personalized many of her wonderful books that depict the true character of pit bulls.
In addition to the organizations that attended, PACT would like to thank the audience for opening their hearts and minds to the panel discussions and day’s events. Participants of all ages left the event having learned something new. PACT hopes that these individuals can help spread the truth about pit bulls and that the media that attended can help shed light on the issues and hardships these innocent dogs face.
In the future, PACT hopes to hold a similar event in the Baltimore/DC area which is currently affected by the Solesky case that is forcing landlords to be unable to rent to pit bull owners. Last Sunday’s events, as well as future events, help take us one step closer in providing justice for pit bulls.
