Needs foster care Until: December 31, 2024

Echo is a healthy, happy 2-year-old German Shepherd looking for a place to crash while her owner is deployed overseas with the Navy. Her owner wishes she could take Echo with her, but due to housing restrictions she is unable. Foster is needed from November 11, 2022 – December 31, 2024.

A friend is temporarily watching Echo until the end of November and is willing to help with transportation up to 4 hours away from Albuquerque, NM.

Her owner would love to visit Echo while home on leave – so staying within that radius is ideal – but she is willing to accept help with further transportation to secure a safe foster home.

Echo is a sweet, energetic pup, who loves to go for long walks and hikes. Her owner says, “grab a tennis or rubber ball and Echo will play fetch for hours.” She also has her favorite toy pig that she carries around and sleeps with, and is so intelligent that you can tell her to go get her pig, ball or bone and she will go and retrieve that item.

Echo for the most part is pretty quiet but will give a quick bark to go out or to be fed. Her owner says if you talk to her, she will talk back to you and sometimes even give you a little attitude like a typical teenager. Echo is a very loving pup, who loves to cuddle and sleep with you.

While Echo is a very good dog, her owner crates her while they are out, just to be on the safe side. She will bark when left at home alone, but typically settles down within five minutes, then she’s okay. While leash walking, Echo enjoys meeting new people and all dogs, but will get defensive with female dogs because of trauma when she was younger. Echo also has a negative reaction to cowboy boots; her owner believes it has something to do with past trauma.
