URGENT: Calvin is currently seeking a foster in the West Des Moines, IA area. His owner is a Vietnam Veteran who is hospitalized and receiving cancer treatments and needs a loving home to keep his best friend safe. We are looking for a potential foster who can care for Calvin ASAP until his owner is well enough to be reunited with Calvin again.

Calvin had a rough start in life; his owner believes that he had been used as bait for training bigger dogs to fight. Despite this rough start, when Calvin’s owner first saw Calvin in the shelter he was staying in, Calvin immediately lit up and started to showcase his goofy and loving personality, with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth. Since then the two have been inseparable. Please help them eventually be reunited by applying to foster Calvin today.

While Calvin is a sweetheart, he is untested with children. Due to his trauma, he is extremely reactive with dogs and cats and should be in a home with no other animals.

Calvin doesn’t ask for much from his foster and is happy with short walks twice daily. The rest of the time he is content to cuddle up next to his favorite person, or in some blankets. This snuggly dog will even gladly wear clothing to keep warm and toasty. He is extremely silly and is guaranteed to make you laugh; his owner describes him as having long legs that he still hasn’t quite mastered. Calvin also has an interesting habit of hiding his toys, and then forgetting where they are, so he will need his foster’s assistance in finding them again!

Aside from his owner, Calvin’s favorite thing in this world is french fries! His owner would love it if Calvin’s future foster would be willing to share a fry or two with this sweet boy.
