Today, August 14th, 2012, residents of Miami-Dade County are encouraged to vote on Bill #500 to end the 23 year-long Pitbull ban in the county. Voters are strongly urged to vote “Yes” to end Breed Specific Legislation in this part of the country. The law, which has been intact for the past 23 years, has proven to be ineffective and a complete waste of tax payers’ dollars. We strongly feel that innocent dogs should not be punished merely for physical appearance. Irresponsible dog owners are the cause of almost all drastic incidents involving Pitbulls or any breed of strong, loyal dogs. These owners need to be punished and held accountable for abusing, training to fight, and neglecting these innocent creatures. Pitbulls are just like any other breed of dogs, in the right hands they can be great additions to any family.
We would like to offer our sincere thanks to anyone involved in helping fight against BSL in Miami-Dade County and around the country. In particular, we want to recognize the Miami Herald for sticking up for Pitbulls and encouraging voters to vote Yes on Bill #500. It takes courage for the media to stand up for a controversial topic. However the voting turns out, we thank everyone involved for their support!
