Helen and her daughter, Emily, were victims of extreme domestic violence, and had to leave their home and city to escape. They were staying in a women’s emergency shelter for a few months, but their darling rescued pitbull, Roxy, could not stay with them. Roxy’s breed meant she would not survive long in an animal shelter, so when PACT Foster Family Lisa volunteered to help, Helen immediately picked her beloved pup up and drove her to Lisa’s life-saving foster home. With a determination to get her daughter back in school and her dog back home by October, Helen’s drive and support system enabled her to find work and dog-friendly housing in a new city in just two months! This week, Helen, Emily, and Roxy were reunited in their new home, and Lisa can sleep easy knowing she saved the life of a wonderful dog — and the best friend of two women in crisis.
