Herbie and Petunia are the furry family of Staff Sergeant Joy, who was deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months. These amazing Persian cats were rescues, years ago, and needed to be in a home with no other cats which was hard for Joy to find. However, she refused to consider leaving them in a shelter and losing them forever! Joy contacted PACT, who found the Zackowski family. The Zackowskis had a cat-friendly dog, and three cat-crazy grandchildren, but no cats of their own. When Joy returned after nine months, she was grateful to be reunited with her well-cared-for (if slightly fatter) cats, and the Zackowskis loved seeing the expression on Joy’s face as she was able to hold her beloved pets again. Joy even presented PACT with a United States flag that was flown in Afghanistan as a symbol of her gratitude. Thank you to the Zackowskis for your generous foster help, and thank you Joy for your service to our country.
